2017 WNY Holiday Theater Performances

This December, start a new tradition and dress up in your holiday finest and grab your significant other, a group of friends or bring the whole family out to celebrate the season with a live theater performance in Western New York.

It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play

November 30 – December 17
Let Road Less Traveled Productions take you back in time with “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” at Shea’s 710 Theater, located at 710 Main Street in Buffalo. “Five actors and a foley artist perform all the voices, music, singing, and sound effects from the most beloved Christmas movie of all time: the story of George Bailey, a young dreamer who will mortgage his last dream for the smaller hopes and needs of his neighbors and friends.” Tickets are $15 – $35.
The Farndale Christmas Carol Comedy
December 1 –December 3
O’Connell & Company, in partnership with Shea’s Smith Theater located at 658 Main Street in Buffalo presents “The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society presents A Christmas Carol.” A show “very, loosely based on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol,” with “a dizzy array of characters from the Dickensian favorite (and a few which aren’t.)” Tickets are $31.
Desde el Puente – Christmas Edition
December 1 – December 17
“Desde el Puente – Christmas Edition” at the Manny Fried Playhouse located at 255 Great Arrow Avenue in Buffalo is a bilingual one-act play in tribute to local community leader, activist and writer Rafael Perez, celebrating Christmas-themed Latino stories. Tickets are Pay What You Can Donation. it 
Silver Bells Christmas Cabaret
December 2 – December 3
The historic Ray Evans Seneca Theater located at 10 Main Street in Salamanca presents”Silver Bells Christmas Cabaret” a family friendly old-fashioned Christmas show filled with talented singers and funny skits to get you in the spirit of the season. Tickets are $5. Attendees are also asked to bring non-perishable food items for Kinley Hill, an emergency shelter, run by Cattaraugus Community Action.
A Charlie Brown Christmas
December 2 – December 17
Bring the whole family to the beloved “Charlie Brown Christmas” at the Theater of Youth located at the Allendate Theater on 203 Allen Street in Buffalo, “Make sure you’re front and center as Charlie Brown and his friends discover the true meaning of Christmas!” Ticket prices are $12-$22.
It WAS a Wonderful Life
December 2 – December 31
Yes, you read that right, “It WAS a Wonderful Life” is a WNY tradition staged at the Forest Lawn cemetery chapel, located at 1411 Delaware Avenue in Buffalo. “Our narrator, John Lay – the first person to take up permanent residence at Forest Lawn, in 1850 – will introduce several of the new friends he’s made over the last 164 years at Forest Lawn.  They, in turn, will create musical, comical and poignant glimpses of Christmases past.” Tickets are $25.
A Christmas Carol
December 8- December 23
Head to the Alleyway Theater located at 1 Curtain Up Alley in Buffalo for the 35th Annual production of Charles Dicken’s “A Christmas Carol.”  The “delightfully faithful adaptation will shift your spirit into high gear as Scrooge, Tiny Tim and the Alleyway Carolers warm the cockles of your holiday heart for another joyous season!” Tickets are $20 – $36.
Christmas Cabaret
December 9
The Aurora Players will be performing a Christmas Cabaret at the Roycroft Pavilion in East Aurora. Come out with family and friends for a night of joyful holiday music and performances by local musicians, singers and dancers, including a caroling sing-along at the the end. Tickets are $5 and available at the door.
Holiday Diva by Diva
December 15
O’Connell & Company’s award winning cabaret-style Diva by Diva performance is coming to the Springville Center for the Arts located at 37 North Buffalo Street in Springville. “Come celebrate the season with songs, carols, readings, poetry, humor & quotes and more!” Tickets are $20.
