British Chippy & English Pork Pie Company. I knew this place existed and had not been there yet. HOW?

My birthday seemed like a perfect day to try this place out for lunch.

British Chippy and the England Pork Pie Company

I would like one of each please. No, really. One of these days I’m coming back and getting one of each, to-go.

The meat pies are all to-go but if you are very lucky, you can get one of the few seats in the lobby area and eat your British Fish & Chips.

This is us waiting. The waiting is the hardest part…nyah. Not for us. We always find something to do.

For example: experiencing hot black tea for the first time even though I hate it?

Sure why not.

When we ordered we were politely offered a cup of tea while waiting. Since I do not like the smell of black tea, I of course declined. Until HWMMS brought me a cup. Hmmm. Yeah no. I smelled the tea, it still smelled like the tea smell I loathe. Next thing I know there is milk and sugar in my tea and an adorable husband asking me to “just try it.” I do drink green tea (plain) I forced myself to adjust to the taste years ago. And I do enjoy a spicy, creamy chia tea. But this?

First reaction. It tastes like it smells. Yuck…wait, actually, the cream and sugar make the spices taste pretty interesting. It’s not bad! I might even “sort of” like it. Who knew? I think with this realization I will now try to do something I’ve never done before on every birthday. Just cause.

The fish arrived packaged in slabs of paper. I ate it with my hands. Flaky delicious cod. I sort of wish I got my chips with vinegar and salt, but there’s always a next time.

So happy. So very happy.

But by far the BEST part of this experience was hours later when I put the sausage roll and scotch eggs in the oven.

Me: I’m pretty sure this is my most favorite thing in the world.

HWMMS: Even more than me?

Me: Ok, 2nd…

GOOD PEOPLE OF THE WORLD HOW HAVE YOU NOT TOLD ME ABOUT SCOTCH EGGS BEFORE? How have I lived 41 years without one? Never again.  Never. Again.

As HWMMS said on Facebook:

“Had my first (hopefully of many) Scotch eggs from the English Pork Pie Company. It is the perfect food.. I will forever gauge time in my life as BSE and ASE. Before Scotch Egg and After Scotch Egg.”

For the love of fish and meat pies and deep fried battered sausage boiled eggs get thee to British Chippy and the England Pork Pie Company as soon as you can.

And for those not in WNY? The latter, they deliver…ALL OVER THE WORLD.

I now have a SERIOUS hankering to get me to the U.K.
