He Who Makes Me Smile grew up in Niagara Falls, NY and had never been to the Allentown Art Festival. Hence, spending my Sunday in Allentown…people watching and spending far, far too much money at the impromptu bar crawl we created along the way while seeking out bathrooms. (Gabe’s, Sample, Gabe’s and Founding Fathers) I blame/thank the nice cool spring not sunny day and my inappropriate choice of attire for the bar crawl actually…

Silly me, I wore a low-cut sleeveless sundress expecting the sun to shine. After walking approximately 2 minutes with no sun, we stopped into Gabriel’s Gate for a pre-festival warm up drink.

Erin :)

While pondering over patron I decided I would look for two things to purchase while at the art festival…

1. A brooch to match my dress where I could cover up the safety pin that was not safely holding up the girls in the sundress I decided to wear.

2. A wrap of some sort because I was wearing a sundress without any sign of sun!

3. A sugar bowl*

*Because at my weekend home in the country we do not have a sugar bowl and I take sugar in my coffee and spill it all over the counter when spooning it right from the bag every weekend.

I know I said two things but I realized that I would likely not need #1 if I found #2 so those two equal one item on my list. And…we are off!

Since He Who Makes Me Smile had never been to the Allentown Art festival before, he was unaware of just how many booth after booth after booth of watercolors to hang in your Golden Girl home in Miami we would come across while seeing EVERYTHING. So I opted to take him to the fun side first.

One of the first things I found was a SWEATSHIRT! Wooo! On sale too! This made me and my 27 necks and chins very happy! (ASIDE: IT IS PAINFUL FOR ME TO SEE PICTURES OF MYSELF LIKE THIS. Even more so to post it on the blog but I’m being all things honest about my weight lately and I figured, well, you all know what I look like it’s not like these 27 chins and necks don’t exist…sigh…)

Where was I? Oh yeah…

Yay for Buffalo Hockey sweatshirt! And since they were only $20 He Who Makes Me Smile got the I Heart Buffalo Irish sweatshirt. Mostly because I wanted that one too and he told me that the Hockey one was more Jenny. Now I get to wear both!

Of course this also means we now we are both wearing I Heart Buffalo almost matching sweatshirts while walking around the festival together. Yeah, sometimes you watch people and sometimes you are the people others watch, Oh well, we had fun.

In fact going to the festival with He Who Makes Me Smile was a whole new world of me loving him. You see He Who Makes Me Smile is quite a social type who can strike up conversations with anyone.

And he encouraged me to take pictures like this with the WOLF!

Fun times. Happy Jenny!

While wandering I fell in love with this necklace and earring set and grabbed a card so I can look them up at my favorite festival the Elmwood Festival of the Arts in August.

And we found pottery we liked (affordable too!) and purchased a sugar bowl and cup. (insert photo of sugar bowl once He Who Makes Me Smile unwraps it and sends me a picture)

As for the rest of the art? Well…I loved this…

And I found this photo on the camera which came from He Who Makes Me Smile because he likes castles?

Apparently choosing art to hang above the couch someday won’t be the easiest domestic task. But I’m sure there’s a compromise in there somewhere.

Good times. And a fun beginning to SUMMER in BUFFALO!
