First day! New job! I was up all night-last night. And watched each hour pass on the alarm clock. Not because I brought home a brand new baby daughter like Scotty and Mrs. Chucklehead did last week (Congrats!!!)

But because lil ol’ me was nervous about day one in the new job. (Although I tried to avoid this by spending one day in the office 2 weeks ago, get through all the admin stuff, figure out where the bathroom is and I’d be ready to go on my real day one!) Yeah, um, still nervous- me the UBER CONFIDENT interviewee. Nervous. Why? I dunno really, although I did cycle through a few latenight/earlymorn insomnia musings and came up with a pretty good answer, but I’m too tired to further examine the issue and put it into tangible words right now.

I went to my new office today, put my new penguin friend *Phil* gifted by Mark on top of my computer, tried to log in and realized I had no idea what my password was. Three guesses later I was locked out. Good morning!!!

The administrator for the computer, not in the office this morning or after lunch. Someone else around 2pm with admin privileges reset my account. Presto!

I got my keys. A parking garage door opener. And my first paycheck. (For that one day, two weeks ago.)

Tis the busybusybusy time of the year in the office and yet I’m only an infant and have no way to assist. (This will change by the end of the week I’m certain since we have an event on Saturday!) So… I delved into the files and computer folders and wrote down pages of to do-to research-to ask-to meet tasks for my immediate future and tried to absorb all I could.

After work? Mark and I were going to head out for wonderful Chinese Food at Ming Teh in Fort Erie, but after a quick search (not sure why I searched, I guess I wanted to see how late they were open, just in case…) I found out they are CLOSED ON MONDAYS. Wah wah. Sad Jen. But mostly because I was salivating over the thought of the beef and green onion dish. I turned down Ming’s Noodles in Rochester last night anticipating Chinese today. Dumbass. Lesson Learned? Never turn down good Chinese food. Ever.

I semi-satisfied my need for food by heating up a container of meatballs I had in the freezer. All it did was fill the empty space. And now with my belly full…I realize I had maybe 2 hours of not continuous sleep last night. I’m exhausted. But in a happy, satisfied way. New job is good. Perfect career move at the exact time I needed it. A tad bit overwhelming, but aren’t all new jobs? I will enjoy doing the grant work. And we all know I love running events. 🙂

Going to take a nap now. More later.
