Holy Basil

Garden / Monday, April 13th, 2015

This is my second season experimenting with growing medicinal herbs. Last year I planted *successfully* grew feverfew, valerian, white horehound, milk thistle and calendula. I’ve decided to add a ton more to the mix this year and decided to give the Holy Basil quartet from Horizon Herbs a try.

Krishna Tulsi, Rama Tulsi, Vana Tulsi & Kapoor Tulsi.

For my first year I’m going to keep them in containers on the porch and then move into the pool room during the winter. Hopefully they will grow big and large and I will have to transplant them to bigger pots. I also read that keeping these plants close to your door will bring good luck, so you know, that’s not too shabby either. From the initial research I’ve done, most of the time this plant is made into an Ayurvedic medicinal tea “to counter life’s stresses.” I’d say we could all use a little of that.
