Honeymoon in Vermont

For Honeymoon Part Two, HWMMS and I visited the great state of VERMONT at the end of September. This time we didn’t bring along Henri the Doggie…but we still drove. (I cried when we dropped Henri off at the kennel, even though I knew he would be in the best hands possible. Silly emotional me.)

HWMMS moved to Vermont shortly after school to work for IBM. He lived there for about 10 years and wanted to show me his old haunts.

It was a peaceful drive…

Mostly.

Except we kept getting stuck behind large trucks with piles of wood. Oh Vermont!
I was able to ignore the wood for the most part and enjoy a little reading…

Our first stop was in Burlington for dinner. Happy newlyweds that didn’t kill each other during the car ride! Huzzah!

We knew we arrived when every 4/5 cars we saw was an Outback. (The State Car of Vermont.)
Hello Vermont Pub and Brewery! HWMMS missed thee!
Our waitress had this for a tattoo. I knew we would be in good hands.

Mmm a flight of beers for an appetizer, yes please!

After a tasty dinner we moved on to our first hotel spot—the Green Mountain Inn, Stowe VT.
Always mention honeymoon.

A quick drink and shot at the bar (HOLY EXPENSIVE!)

And then a trip to the HEATED outdoor pool. Which we had all to ourselves since we traveled in the middle of the week, right before the busy leave peeping season! SCORE!

But what we loved having to ourselves even more? The hot tub and sauna. Pure relaxation. I took a picture so we could remember what it looks like when we someday build our very own. Also, the 2nd photo, totally looks like HWMMS is sneaking up on me like Jaws.

Pure happy.
The following day we met up with some buddies from IBM.  A good group of fellas…who also share my Husband’s sense of humor.
The gorgeous grounds of the Green Mountain Inn.

I love kisses on the top of my head.

Could. Not. Resist.

Of course my Blacksmith fell in love with the Blacksmith shop…

The views around Stowe…breathtaking!

All the Fall colors and goodness, we hit Vermont at the perfect time! No people and all sorts of pretty!

No trip to Vermont is complete without the Ben & Jerry tour.

Caught this one while he wasn’t looking…
On the road again…(more wood!)
Views from the mountain, traveling over to Swanton, Vt where HWMMS lived. I think this was my favorite part of the trip, driving through the mountains. The pictures don’t do it justice at all.

Dinner with friends. And their ADORABLE kiddos!

…followed by a relaxing bubbly night in the tub…our last night in Stowe.

Next stop Essex Inn and Culinary Resort in Burlington, VT.

Our first night we spent at the top-notch fancy restaurant Amuse.

Oh my goodness. Everything was amazing. AMAZING. Worth every penny. I wanted to open bed and breakfast and go to culinary school after visiting this place. Yum.

The next day we headed out to the Roller Derby Regionals of course! Love my Free Bacon.

And then spent time in the ADORABLE downtown Burlington area where we did MUCHO shopping!

HWMMS bought a man bracelet, see?

The following morning/afternoon/evening we went on the BURLINGTON BEER TOUR.

Whoa. All I can say is this was worth every penny. So much beer! So much fun! I don’t remember too much more, because by the end of the afternoon everything was blurry!

I ended up with a boa from the Magic Hat Brewery and somehow we made it to the Roller Derby Finals. I believe a cab dropped us off?
And then next morning…we headed home sweet home.
