I was inspired by the optimism in Jen’s post today, so I thought I’d follow her lead.

If I had my shit together…

I would not be making my first cup of coffee on a Sunday at 3:30 pm.

The books I need to send out would be wrapped. The other packages too.

The dishes would be done.

Dozens of Christmas baked goods would be baked. And my fridge and cupboard would be filled with ingredients for more.

The half painted dresser would be painted.

The clothes that belong in the dresser would be put away, along with all the other clothes waiting for hangers .

Laundry. Need I say more?

The 10 books next to my bed would be read.

The Christmas cards would be in the mail instead of sitting on the table next to several books of stamps.

The remaining 1/4th of the Christmas Tree would have lights.

The garland lying in the middle of the living room floor would be framing the front windows.

The four boxes of Christmas penguin decorations would be set up around the house instead of in boxes.

I wouldn’t have thrown away a ridiculous amount of produce and food (Thanksgiving turkey anyone) from the fridge.

I would have met Jen and Jen at Kleinhans for the Christmas Concert this afternoon.

The smoke detector wouldn’t have gone off because I was writing this post…
