The Joy of Just Being?

“…much of real life tends to happen during the in-between times. While moving from one moment in time to the next is seldom considered a significant occurrence, it is during those in-between times that we are most in tune with life’s most profound, albeit simple joys.”

I know, I know I’m getting a little hokey (is that a word?) with all this motivational crap but you know, I actually have been feeling pretty damn good lately. 9/10ths of the time I can drag my ass out of the funk and talk myself into, making that batch of cookies, staying up to read the book, going out to get  a Christmas Tree etc…without crawling back into bed under the covers for the night. Don’t get me wrong, I have those moments too…but my oh my, I’ve been enjoying just *being* myself and being with friends and kitty cats, they keep me in great cozy company.

The in-between times are seldom about landmark moments. How you choose to celebrate them or which moments you choose to celebrate is up to you. You may want to celebrate the simple facts that you are alive and that every day is a chance to spend time with the people you care about or do the work that you love.

I’ve been thinking about that a lot this week. Monday was a busy day. I had an annual meeting for work and then followed that up with a Board Meeting for the other place I occasionally work. And I came home from both meetings, late, and completely and utterly satisfied. I am proud to be associated with both places of employment and blessed to not only have a job in this economy (and an extra job that gives me more $$$ here and there) but to have TWO jobs I LOVE? How lucky am I? Life is good.
