HWMMS decorated Mom’s cast for her with a roller skate, not unlike myself, my mother should never, ever consider being on roller skates. Cute, eh?

Anyhow, it’s about one more week until her appointment with the surgeon to see if this cast can be removed. IF (when) it is removed she gets the walking boot—-hurrah! And she can walk her way out of the rehab facility.

The last week was icky. A nasty bout of the flu was (is still) going around the facility. Mom had it since Monday, her roommate had it a few days before. Last night, her roommate was sent to the hospital. (praying it’s just dehydration and needing oxygen.) The room had been on quarantine for the last several days, mom hasn’t been allowed to leave her room (which she shouldn’t have been anyhow because she needs rest, but I can understand desperately needing to escape even if it’s just down the hall to the TV room or to physical therapy.)

Mom is no longer has a fever but she has been coughing (productively) which of course is causing pain (hello broken ribs and collarbone!) Hopefully she will be able to get much more rest by herself in the room and be on the mend for her appointment on Thursday.
