On the quest for a better recipe for coconut macaroons, I came across this blog post.

Odysseus and the macaroons

Each time I walk into the kitchen, I feel like Odysseus, preparing to sail past the Sirens: for my own good, I should ask my neighbors to chain me to something solid and heavy, seal their mouths with anti-macaroon protective tape, and ignore my screams and pleas as they remove the (now half-empty) Ziploc bag from my freezer and carry it down to the dumpster in the parking garage. Short of this, my only hope for salvation lies in forcing the macaroons upon unsuspecting friends.

Oh my. I can already understand why, my kitchen smells like HEAVEN ITSELF HAS DESCENDED UPON ME. I think the cooking over the stove method is going to be my salvation.

Oh. My. I might have a reallyreallyreally hard time giving these away…especially after covering them in chocolate. Oh how my new co-workers (and other unsuspecting friends) are going to love me! (I’m gonna have to make another batch before going over to Rachel’s for dinner, she and I share a deep, deep love of the macaroon.)
