Three, Three Things about Buffalo?

THREE PLACES I LOVE THE MOST IN BUFFALO

1. Shakespeare Hill/Marcy Casino/Hoyt Lake/Delaware Park/Albright-Knox Area

Pretty, pretty, pretty. I love nothing more in the world than wandering about this area: Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall it’s my most favourite place in Buffalo by FAR. Bring on the blankets and jazz and Shakespeare and lazy days reading by the lake!

2. Bidwell Parkway/Cafe Aroma/Talking Leaves Area

The corner of my ‘hood where EVERYTHING happens in the Summer. A five minute walk to the farmer market on Saturday, the free concerts, the parades, the festivals, the people watching from the patio, the shops, the eateries, the Co-op! I love where I live and this corner of my world is a huge reason why.

3. Allentown: Franklin/Delaware/Elmwood/Allen Area.

When the SUN goes down…this is where I play. Once upon a time I lived in the heart of this area off of Elmwood and Allen and my oh my did I have a busy busy social life. All my favorite places to eat (Cozumel, Gabriel’s Gate, Towne) and drink (far, far too many to name) are right here. Even better? I work here as well as play. Tis too easy these days to wander from the office after 5 pm.

(Miss Congeniality: The Waterfront-Hatch’s anyone?)

THREE PLACES I STILL NEED TO VISIT IN BUFFALO:

1. The *New* Burchfield Penney Art Gallery

I was only there for a moment for the Evening with Alec Baldwin…and I wasn’t checking out the art, oops! Gorgeous inside, must explore.

2. Roycroft Campus

How I have not been here yet is beyond me…one of these days.

3. Our Lady of Victory Basilica

I love the Cathedrals downtown and have been at both quite a bit…I need to get thee to OLV soon.

(Miss Congeniality:The Botanical Gardens)

THREE BEST FESTIVUSES OF THE YEAR IN BUFFALO

1. St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Duh. Everyone’s Irish, right? The Sunday Parade day is one of my favourites…always followed by Jackdaw of course! And when the sun is shining like it was this year…even better!

2. Allentown Art Festival/Allen West Weekend TIED WITH Elmwood Festival of the Arts

Mostly about the people watching…and the bands and music on Allen West. I do admit this weekend was soooooooooo much better when Music is Art was alongside the art festival, why can’t we all just get along? For the actual art festival itself, bring me to my home strip of the Elmwood Festival- local, local, local.

3. New Years Eve Downtown

I’m still a sucker for the cold winter weather and being surrounded by thousands of revelers in the street watching the 97 Rock Ball Drop and the fireworks…
