I heard the NPR election song in the car on the way home from work tonight and got giddy. It’s that time. It’s election time. It’s finally here. It’s been 27 years of waiting (give or take 24 years.) Now, I’m cozy on the couch listening to my trusty WBFO trying to calm down my Harley Boo who just wants to play and ready to hear the results from the Iowa Caucus.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE 2020 don’t let me down. DON’T LET AMERICA DOWN,
At this brief moment in time, I have the (ignorant) blissful feeling of an excited political science nerd from an era now long lost. A world before the 2016 election. Just waiting for the “game” to begin…see who the “winner” will be without thought that America is in turmoil and currently occupied by a dictator. Please don’t wake me from this dream. If only for a fleeting moment. Oh to go back to the innocence of “what is a caucus vs. primary” or “Why does Iowa get to go first?” feature news stories.
Sigh. If only.
My prediction?
1. Biden (by a hair) 2. Bernie and some sort of boost for Klobuchar.
My preferences: Warren & Buttigieg. (I miss Harris…)
But let’s be honest…THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS IS GETTING BEHIND THE DEMOCRAT THAT COMES OUT ON TOP. Period. And despite policy preferences here and there, the candidate needs to be the most electable against the current fascist regime in the White House. I fear (confusingly so…because of Impeachment and the thought of what the King will do to smite us all) that this person is Biden. With a Buttigieg/Klobuchar running mate. Middle of the road. Harris as Attorney General, of course.
Warren. WHIP SMART. A plan for everything. If only our country could embrace the progressive, fierce woman candidate. Personally, I’m a much more middle of the road moderate type, but Warren impresses the hell out of me and has worked hard to get shit done. I believe she has the good of the American people in her heart and mind and yes, many plans to make this happen. #LFG.
ALL THINGS 11:00 PM UPDATE:
- Turn out being the same as 2016 concerns me. I get this fed up feeling somewhere in between IOWA and Super Tuesday, but this is day one. And it’s already looking to be a sad clusterfuck. Let’s hope with all our might that everyone is just done and ready to #votebluenomatterwho.
- Optimistic Jenny Take. An app? I can hardly get a class of six students to sign in properly on touchpad tablets at work without intervening at least once. I imagine this wasn’t exactly well thought out… But man, it doesn’t make anyone feel confident, eh? Or you know #broadbandforall?
Oh yeah, and a reminder. Just in case.
