I grew up loving and singing every word of the musical Les Misérables. Never did I ever imagine how these songs would hit in 2026.

I’m so tired. My brain is circuiting on a very short thread. I’m on the verge of tears just existing.

  • This post should be a happy memory Jenny talking about seeing Colm Wilkinson live in concert – more than once. And feeling incredibly blessed to have heard that angelic tenor live.
  • This post should be about a silly whimsical dream, to have HWMMS and I play the Thénardiers on a community theater stage. After all, we’ve been “paired” together twice as Husband and Wife – how amazingly fun could that be?
  • Oh yeah, chronic illnesses the last 5 years, not so sure I have a community theater rehearsal schedule in my spoon drawer any more. Sad, because another dream was to direct/produce Jesus Christ Superstar. Alas, my mind is clearer now. That will never be.

Instead this post is just – sad and tired. I’m tired of being tired. But I’m going out tomorrow. No Kings! DO YOU HEAR THE PEOPLE SING? I do. But do you?

Friends in WNY – if you aren’t sure about attending a No Kings event in Buffalo, please consider coming to Springville – starts at 1pm. IT’S OUR FIRST EVENT AND IT WILL BE small but mighty! I’ll be there with HWMMS and friends wearing a bright yellow “volunteer” vest!

From our Springville Action newsletter

  • No Kings Springville. March 28. Main and Mechanic. 1-3pm. Bring respectful signs to this visibility event – there’s a lot of content to choose from. We will have some cardboard/markers on site for people to make their own. Dress for the weather. Watch out for each other.
  • Other events in the area in addition to Springville and the Big One in Buffalo include Williamsville, Geneseo, Olean, Northern Chautauqua, Lockport.
  • Events on Mobilize.us. That link goes to events near Springville. It’s tough to just call these political events. These are events in response to the chaos around us, and that chaos is a blend of politics, economics and cultural pressures. We have to push back against it all.

And YES I get it – not everyone CAN go out tomorrow. But everyone NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING FOR THE LOVE OF COUNTRY AND HUMANITY.

Enter Virtual No Kings!

A 4:5 graphic with a peach background. At the top, a red x on top of a gold crown serves as the No Kings logo, with “NO KINGS” underneath, next to bold black text reading “VIRTUAL.” Below that, bold blue text reads “WHAT IF DISABLED PEOPLE WERE IN CHARGE?” In the center, black text reads “Come imagine it with us through art, music, writing, conversation, or simply your presence. Presented by DIYabled. All are welcome.” Below that, bold pink text reads “Saturday, March 28, 4 pm ET / 1 pm PT.” Below that, a QR code and a black link read “Register: bit.ly/VirtualNoKingsMarch2026” and another QR code and a black link read “Livestream: youtube.com/@diyabled5902.” At the bottom is the DIYabled logo.

Seeing friends on the streets participating really matters.

REPRESENTATION MATTERS.

My wish today, as I light my candle for intention, is to hear of friends and family going out tomorrow to show their support.
