Hugh Jackman to Lead Broadway Revival of ‘The Music Man’

“The first musical I was ever part of was the phenomenal The Music Man,” said Jackman in a statement. “The year was 1983, and I was at Knox Grammar School in Sydney, Australia. I was one of the traveling salesmen, and I think I can actually (almost) remember that unforgettable opening number! That was probably the moment when the magic of theater was born in me.”

Me too Hugh. Me too. Except instead of a traveling salesman, I was a pick-a-little lady. I learned to balance a book on my head while doing grecian urns. I still know all the words. I fell in love with my first boyfriend and had my first kiss because of the SHIPOOPI. And most certainly had some of the best memories of my life surrounded by some of my best friends (still to this day…) and even Lil Brother!

That magic of theater would remain dormant for 27 years…

I’M SO EXCITED to start rehearsals for the Springville Center for the Arts performance of The Music Man next Monday!

Guess who will be singing the Shipoopi—-and guess who the lady at his side will be who is singing & dancing with her partner singing the Shipoopi. .
