Saturday morning – A Day in the Work Life of Jenny. I went into work at The Foundry to cover open maker hours. I spent the entire time talking with members of our small, but mighty community.

  • Woodshop: Behold! A new community member came in for the first time to use our tools after she completed our safety course. I do love seeing women in our traditionally gender-role male workspaces!
  • Tech Lab: Ahoy! A “traveling tinkerer” sought us out and drove an hour to see us and donated a bunch of robotic kits for our youth to explore. Why Why not – he wants to share his love of learning!
  • Textile Lab: Happy happy – I had conversations with two supervisors about teaching future classes  involving helping community learn basic skills – hemming, button sewing, zippers, etc.
  • Incubator Space: Wowza! I watched one of our small business fellows hold her first open call for models! And brainstormed about holding a prom dress drive/swap where she can teach how to reimagine new designs by altering and embellishing…had 5 other business fellows onsite this morning too!I’ve always appreciated my work but in these times the personal connections feed my soul. A Day in the Work Life of Jenny – never boring. Never the same day twice.
