Saturday morning – I went into work at The Foundry to cover open maker hours. I spent the entire time talking with members of our small, but mighty community.
- Woodshop: a new community member came in for the first time to use our tools after she completed our safety course.
- Tech Lab: a “traveling tinkerer” stopped by and donated a bunch of robotic kits for our youth to explore.
- Textile Lab: had conversations with two supervisors about teaching classes helping community learn basic skills – hemming, button sewing, zippers, etc.
- Incubator Space: watched one of our small business fellows hold her first open call for models! And brainstormed about holding a prom dress drive/swap where she can teach how to reimagine new designs by altering and embellishing…had 5 other business fellows onsite this morning too!
I’ve always appreciated my work but in these times the personal connections feed my soul.
