Mimi Cat is living her best life today. Ah, the sunshine is out and the air is crisp and coolish – perfect morning to get out in the garden to do some Fall cleanup and harvesting.
All the Scarlet Runner Beans from the side of the porch. Done. Now time for the pods to dry.
Chives. So many more out there to pick but I want to dry these first. Been taking clumps of them to replant around other areas as well.
Basils. Oregano. Thyme.
Sage & Rosemary.
Lettuce. Chard & Spinach. (I use the stems in stock.)
Last of the Eggplants and Sugar Baby Watermelons.
Note to self – I really should just grow lots and lots and lots more herbs, they tend to do well.
Time to head to work…
Today is the first day of the new Supreme Court term. Once upon a time, in a place far, far away from present – I was the girl who LOVED studying Constitutional Law. I looked forward to the new term. I read opinions when they came out. Now? Self-preservation I suppose, but my God — I can’t. I’m TERRIFIED for our future. AND YOU SHOULD BE TOO. Hence, wearing my rainbow uterus sweater.
I brought all sorts of delicious good foods to work with me today to eat. A jar of white chicken chili, a pear, orange, banana, chicken wheat wrap AND THIS DELICIOUS CANDY BAR.
Of course, guess what I ate first? 🙂
My amazing Moonwife Cat surprised me with this package after reading my blog post about craving COFFEE CRISP bars. THANK YOU BEAUTIFUL SOUL. For the chocolate surprise – AND READING MY BLOG POST! WOOT!
This afternoon I put myself in a rough funk. The new monthly schedule came out for work and I have a WHOLE LOT OF 6am shifts – which my body DOES NOT LIKE. My body especially doesn’t like when I alternate with the afternoon schedule. Basically this means – I cannot plan to do anything when working the 6 am shift the day of, or before or after because I have NO IDEA when my body will say NOW YOU CAN SLEEP. The person who works FT has (another) week of vacation – this makes about her 27th week since she moved to this position from her last and I am just exhausted thinking about the month of October.
I was grumpy – but I tried to reframe.
So I tried to put this thought in my head instead. (It worked a bit…but, meh.)
The job is easy. (For the most part on most days.) The extra money and hours will be welcome. I’m blessed I have the ability to literally sleep around my work hours without added responsibilities. And I’m healthy enough to work when so many others are not.
And I don’t know how long this position will last —- it was implemented as a COVID precaution.
Basically, this will be me all month. And into November.
