I’ve been partially sucked in this week once again. News. Consuming content. Maybe at 1/27th the amount I was last year, which was 1/27th of the amount from the year before…but yeah. In tune and been completely out of sorts this week because of it.
TUESDAY NIGHT. I logged in to read the headlines and COMPLETELY FORGOT WHAT WAS HAPPENING IN NY. Seriously – how could I just not remember? WHO AM I?
Tuesday – I did a bit of work work. Then made lots of food for the week (pickle soup! pork pad thai! kielbasa/cabbage/pierogi!) And then sorted my seed collection and planted turmeric and ginger plants. After checking the news – and feeling disgust and a deep sense of sadness over what America has become — I ended up sitting on the round chair in the living room with the kitchen window open, listening to the very chatty peepers. Self-care? Self-preservation.
And yesterday, I turned on NPR and heard this news.
For those still using the bird app…
Twitter labels NPR’s account as ‘state-affiliated media,’ which is untrue
“..In response to an NPR email for this story seeking comment and requesting details about what in particular might have led to the new designation, the company’s press account auto-replied with a poop emoji — a message it has been sending to journalists for weeks.”
STATE-AFFILIATED MEDIA? POOP EMOJI? This is America? Yes, sadly this is. And it’s all out there in plain sight with NO CONSEQUENCES FOR THOSE WHO CHOOSE TO FOLLOW SUIT.
- Judge in Trump’s criminal case has received dozens of threats, police sources say
- Dark money groups push election denialism on
Boo North Carolina. Boo Tennessee. Kansas, Indiana & Idaho.
I suppose I should focus on the positive though, right?
Yay Wisconsin.
I scan the headlines – I occasionally tune into WBFO/NPR. I browse Daily Mail for entertainment and if something catches my eye I turn to the Washington Post. But that’s really all. When I engage like I have this week for even just a little? Oh the rage. The endless. Rage.
Time for a re-read of On Tyranny.I’ve not yet read the graphic version…hmm.
Be safe my friends.
