Weber Wonderland: Pink Bathroom Updates
HWMMS: I really like the decorations in the pink bathroom. And the changes we’ve made. it’s turning out to be one of the nicer rooms on this floor.
Me: Um, our bathroom should NOT be one of the nicer rooms on this floor.
HWMMS: I said one of the nicer rooms, it’s the room I’ve done the most changes in so far at least.
Me: This obviously means we need to get working on more changes on the main floor.
Our “pink bathroom” is one of FIVE bathrooms in this giant home we bought. Tis the only half bath and the only one that guests use on the main floor. At least I don’t THINK any of our guests have been going in the bedroom to use the master bath, unless they are named Bobby and they are playing Bathroom Bingo. (Use all five in one visit and you win?)
I definitely was NOT a fan of most things in the PINK bathroom when we first moved in. (This is the photo from when we did the initial house tour.)
First of all PINK? Really?
Second of all. Apparently the person who built our home couldn’t decide between gold or silver fixtures. Because the toilet handle was gold. The toilet paper/towel rack and faucet was silver with gold edging. Hot. I know.
Third—there was a not so pretty old school gold light fixture hanging above a not so pretty mirror with odd edging.
Finally—ZILTCH storage space.
A funny thing happened after living in our space for over a year, I didn’t hate the pink so much anymore. So in an effort to quickly change things up, while leaving the pink walls, I bought all new fixtures (towel rack/toilet paper rack/light switch/outlet switch/faucet)and a mirrored medicine cabinet.
I’ve found that I like to seasonally decorate the pink bathroom in an entirely different color scheme than the rest of the house, so I wanted to stick with something simple, I chose a basic oak wood and antique brass because it matched the adorable antique chest that belonged to the family. of HWMMS. Plus, I want to be different and I just know this look will be coming back around, someday. Everything can’t be all white and brushed nickel forever, can it?
Note, if you head to the big box stores you will not find ANYTHING for a bathroom that isn’t brushed nickel right now. Seriously…I was ready to hand over my money to Lowe’s and Home Depot the one afternoon and I found nothing. Wayfair saved the day, but it took a few days.
Adding the POOP DECK sign was a classy start. (It was a Christmas gift to HWMMS from Santa!)
Final touches, I bought a silly fake potted plant kitty litter box and a gorgeous pink Himalayan salt lamp which makes the room look so pretty at night!
Ultimately, I would like to have oak beadboard installed and two really pretty antique brass sconce lamps on each side of the mirror. And we still need to patch holes and paint a lighter/duller fresh coat of pink and replace the ceiling exhaust fan light. But that’s for another day.
It’s a simple start. One bathroom almost done, four more to go!
