Best of Buffalo. I was starting to freak out a little bit when I was at the very fancy nominee reception Tuesday night (for work mind you, I would never be included such crowds…) and a lovely lady, one of our award nominees…walked in the door and said to me “You ARE All Things Jennifer.” Gulp. Outed in this crowd? YIKES! Turns out said woman writes in her spare time, for Buffalo Spree and happens to know Alan.
AND as I was telling this story at work, my security buddy E.D. mentioned that after he introduced me to his son at the wake a few weeks ago, as All Things Jennifer, someone came up to him after I left and said “was that All Things Jennifer?”
C’mon! An elite cocktail reception and a funeral? Sounds like the making of a bad movie to me. (Or at least a collection of short stories that will help pay off those law school loans.) At this point I decided to remove my stat counters, because I just don’t want to know. Sort of freaky, but good, but I just don’t want to know anymore. I want to be able to still blog as if the people I know who are reading, are the only ones. With the occasional Google searcher who stops in and browses for a while.
So with that said, finding my name on this post “Congratulations, Nominees” was somewhat shocking (and a wee bit exhilarating) AND proof that every vote counts, because I’m certain that my lone wee self-nomination as a moment of weakness is not deserving of a slot in this category. Personal Blog? Maybe… I mean is there any competition with Buffalo Rising? E-Strip? Buffalo Pundit? and Fix Buffalo*?
Um, no. And I try very hard not to be competition with any of these blogs, I am ALL THINGS. Once upon a time before Buffalo Rising and Buffalo Pundit, I tried very hard to promote Buffalo. I still do, but not nearly as efficiently as these big guns.
What a wacky world we live in. If anyone else out there, DID happen to mention my name, thank you, thank you, thank you. Tis an honor just to be nominated.
