We spent many, many hours in the garden today. And now we’re 90% caught up with weeding, composting, hilling, caging, trellising in the one front yard garden (gourds, summer squash, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, borage, onions, beets) and the herb garden (parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme, cilantro, dill, chives, basil, thai basil, oregano, swiss chard, red mustard, marshmallow, horehound, calendula.)
STILL NEED TO work on other front yard garden (broccoli rabe, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, pak choi, beets, turnips, carrots, radishes, red beans, black beans, white beans, lima beans) and the side porch garden (runner beans, lettuce, spinach) and the main garden (cucumbers, yellow beans, winter squash, sunflowers, pumpkins.)
SO MUCH WORK and so many goddammed failures. We planted probably over 100 leeks and onions that I started by seed…and have maybe a dozen that made it. Sigh.
2/5 ain’t bad? And it’s raining…just in time.
