Garden Update. About 65% complete transplanting perennial medicinal herbs (echinacea, lovage, milk thistle, marshmallow, wormwood, hyssop, yarrow, horehound, valerian, borage & chamomile) and adding new seeds to the Creekside garden. SO MUCH weeding, tilling, planting. HWMMS even cut down a few tiny annoying trees, not that anyone but us can tell how much work has been done. Still more to go—and then, mulch! (After HWMMS shreds it from the trees he removed.)
Veggies planted so far include baking potatoes, red potatoes, sweet potatoes, beets, carrots, radishes, lettuce (leaf and romaine), spinach, swiss chard, red onions, yellow onions, green onions, cucumbers, scarlet runner beans, peas, gourds, blue corn, pumpkins, cabbage. (And garlic and onions from last fall!)
Culinary herbs planted so far include: basil, dill, oregano, chives, parsley, rosemary, sage, cilantro & thyme.
Growing in the balcony greenhouse: St.John’s Wort, eucalyptus, arnica, tomatoes, peppers and leeks.
We also have hops, rhubarb, horseradish, asparagus, strawberries, cherries, blackberries, raspberries, apple trees, pear trees, peach trees, hazelnut trees. The trees have a few more years before they give us fruit, but they are growing nicely!
Currant, blueberry, elderberry and loganberry are still on the to-do list. Previous half-assed attempts have not proven to be fruitful. We also have more cherry & hazelnut bushes on the agenda.
And I can’t even tell you all the other seeds yet to be planted…corn, beans, squash, melons…mushrooms (our first half-assed attempt failed.)
Ah, Weber Wonderland.
