Garlic Scapes!

I didn’t mean to harvest them – but I went outside to fertilize the garlic one last time – and then I saw ALL THE RIDICULOUSLY TALL WEEDS and thought – I should *maybe* weed this bed of garlic so the fertilizer can actually go to the GARLIC instead of all the other greens hiding within – I mean you do see those yellow tips right – and then LO! THEY APPEARED! The twirly delicate scape!

SQUEE! Delight! HWMMS came over and brought me a basket and took this adorable photo of ME in my joyful natural habitat. The garden. Actually, the garden in the cool early evening – WITHOUT BEING ATTACKED BY SKEETERS because – hello – GARLIC!

If you’ve ever harvested Garlic Scapes you can appreciate that succulent moment when that slight tug to try to get the entire scape picked turns out successful! HURRAH!

The rest of the time – about 88% – you’ll hear me yell – SHIT. DAMMIT IT! ARUGH right after that subtle SNAP sound that means SO SAD TOO BAD YOU LOSE THE GARDEN SCAPE GAME.

Perhaps if I were more patient – or gentle.

(Insert endless laughter here.)

Garlic Scapes!

(Please clap and acknowledge the adorable basket of Garlic Scapes.)

I also picked a whole lotta lettuce! And some catnip.

PESTO TIME THIS WEEKEND!
