I wish so much I had the money to just pay for this entire fundraiser. I’ve donated twice. Our family has been there – wondering how to pay for a funeral for a loved one. It’s heartbreaking.
How is it possible that Bills fans donate $700,000 to children’s hospital in honor of our QB grandmothers passing (don’t get me wrong, this is amazing!) But this man lost his job and his father to COVID and just needs enough $ for a funeral and only a little over $2000 has been raised?
This man, who is disabled, lost his job and his dad to Covid. He’s all alone and can’t afford to bury his father. https://t.co/t0HydEcarF

Here’s the original story.
Listen. It devastates me to hear of families not being able to afford funerals for their loved ones.
Emmanuel Johnson was one of many who stood for an hour+ Monday to get a turkey in front of One Seneca Tower.
He lost his Dad to COVID last week.
Lost job.
He can’t pay for his funeral services.
He will be alone for Thanksgiving.

From Nick:
Been keeping up with Emmanuel. Can’t afford his fathers funeral costs still. He’s looking to try to have a funeral on December 12 or have arraignments by then.
I want to say thank you to people who have reached out to help. Someone sent groceries on Thanksgiving. He’s grateful.
I’ve reached out to Erie County social services, which has a program that appears to help direct burial services up to $900. I’ve also reached out to Lakeside Memorial and Greco Funeral Home in Kenmore. When they reach back, I plan on writing a story about how the process works.
