Mmmmmmm. My first round of homemade sourdough bread. Nice tangy sour flavor!
I made my own sourdough starter though. Started it about two weeks ago with whole wheat flour. Did a great job of feeding it the first few days and then got lazy. And lazy meant there was a bunch of hooch on top—I mixed it back in, but still hooch. My poor starter was hungry.
So the last two days I did a more aggressive feeding schedule (twice a day AND made sure to discard half each time….making sure to save the half to use to make something else like biscuits…with pizza dough on the future menu.
The final product today, not too shabby! It has the right flavor, I just want it a little more fluffy. Practice makes perfect!
A few more batches and I’ll have starter for anyone interested.
