Tis 1:11 am on January 20th. If I somehow stay awake forever will tomorrow – today — never come?
It was supposed to be V.P. Harris. It was supposed to be Gov. Walz. It was supposed to be Justice Jackson swearing them in on MLK Jr. Day. It was…
To.
Be.
I know how we got here. BUT HOW DID WE GET HERE?
I know this is real life but MY GOD HOW IS THIS REAL LIFE?
Once I dragged my ass out of bed this early afternoon – I started doing ALL THE THINGS.
Must. Keep. Moving. And. Not. Think.
- I numb/rage roasted a 22 lb turkey. Took the meat off the bones and started a giant pot of stock.
- I numb/rage baked three pans of homemade mac & cheese.
- I numb/rage baked two pans of baked ziti with ground venison.
- I numb/rage made 12 cups of sourdough waffle batter – and my Evil Twin made Belgian waffles.
- I numb/rage baked two loaves and one Bundt pan of Amish Friendship Bread.
- I numb/rage prepared a triple batch of sourdough bagel dough – rising overnight.
- I numb/rage prepared two loaves of sourdough sandwich bread – rising overnight.
Accordingly, the numb/rage time in the kitchen overlapped with my beloved Buffalo Bills – not losing* the game tonight and advancing to the AFC Championship Round – against. The Chiefs. Of course.
*not losing because what ARE the chances the Ravens would miss not one, but two two-point conversions? I figured it would be down to the wire. I thought the score would be higher. I’m overjoyed with the outcome. And started ugly crying releasing ALL THE THINGS.
I BILLieve the Ravens were the team to beat. I BILLieve we are a better team than KC this year.
Although, I also know better.
The Buffalo Bills are the one (frivolous) joy I have to look forward to this coming week…
Numb. Rage.
If tomorrow never comes…
Resist.
