Lies. Just lies. Lies and more lies. And people gobble it up. Woo—more lies, please!

2 + 2 = 5

I curate my news through social media. I follow actual sources – Guardian, Public Citizen, etc.  but it has become abundantly clear…news is being throttled by the algorithms.

Obviously: Threads and Instagram? Meta. Facebook? Meta. Bluesky? …eh. Substack? Questionable morals, but Heather Cox Richardson is a must read.

Where am I going with this?

I’ve had two friends mention in the last day to go directly to the source.

I visit a handful of sites regularly – DrudgeDaily MailNY Post  they give me a “temperature check” of the moment. Once upon a time, I subscribed to The Washington Post and The New York Times. I used to check CNN. Now? Nope.

I try very consciously not to even share articles from those knee benders. I’m just so… exasperated. I know how this happens. I still can’t believed it happened here. I hate it with every ounce of my morbidly obese soul.

As a student of political science and constitutional law, I am numb. As an intutive empath I am terrified for our future without rule of law or any consequences.

I’m deeply online. I can’t not be. But I also know I’m starting to miss stories, waiting for links to appear in my feed. Instead I see people reposting links I should be seeing directly from the accounts I follow.

So… subscribe I shall. ALL the email newsletters. Content delivered directly to me, unfiltered.

I’ll probably put together a post here with my regular reads, but for now, I’m urging anyone reading this (I know – maybe two people) go directly to websites. Subscribe to their email updates. Don’t wait for the feed to decide what you’re allowed to see.

The same goes for me personally as All Things Jennifer, honestly. I’m active on Insta, Threads, Bluesky but I need to put what I share here. And encourage anyone who cares (about me, or what I share) to subscribe here.

Only a handful of people actually see anything I post. I check the stats, it’s pathetic. It’s exhausting.

Exhausting BUT an important reminder that I need to do better. Maybe one person will read a story I share, pass it along, and it will matter. Most likely not. But I have to at least pretend to seek hope.

If you’re reading this and you subscribe by email – my goddess, thank you from the bottom of my being. It matters to me. (And you don’t even need to tell me if you ignore half of it.)

I’m just so damn tired of the ignorance. The intellectual void. The easy, lazy lure of propaganda.

I need to be better.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring. Thank you for sharing.
