Living Room Painted
I love the red color on the living room walls, it was there when we moved in and in general we really liked it. However, the living room is quite dark, there are no windows and the only “light” comes from the two doors on the wall with the fireplace which leads to the balcony and pool area. But the red, the red isn’t our color. Once we set up the coffee bar in the corner and used the beige paint, we knew we wanted to get rid of some of the red…but how many walls? Just the one by the fireplace to help the stone blend in? Our just three leaving the one far wall red as an accent?
Once HWMMS got started, it was clear all the red had to go. The room feels completely different. Totally transformed to a lighter, happier place and feels FINALLY like OUR HOME. I now LOVE the fireplace, the stones that felt “off” now blend into the wall.
Nest steps (but not right away since all the other rooms in the house are being painted first…)
1. Tear out carpet. Install dark, thick barn wood floors.
2. Replace fireplace mantle with dark, thick barn wood beam.
3. Paint the black fireplace surround a copper color…
4. Stain/paint moldings dark brown.
5. Install dark barn wood ceiling beams.
And perhaps…
6. Replace doors with sliding barn doors.
7. Buy entertainment wall unit
All the accent pieces in the room are going to be burgundy/red.
