Read & Resist
I read. I resist. You read. You resist. A bunch of links I found floating on the interwebs.
- Tomorrow will be a shameful day – But some reasons for reassurance – Robert Reich – We will come to the aid of our communities. We will protect the vulnerable. We will resist Trump’s efforts to prosecute his political enemies..We will not compromise with fascism. We will continue to fight for the rule of law, for social justice, for equal opportunity, for democracy.
- ‘Head Like A Hole’ – Noel Casler – Fascism cannot be our future and we must focus on preventing it in every way we can. We will prevail but we have to get busy. Create, educate, communicate, inspire. In any and every way you can. An act of kindness is transformative. Practice as much of it as possible.
- Letters from an American – January 19, 2025 – Heather Cox Richardson – “Now, that’s a strange statement to make,” King went on, “because the world is all messed up. The nation is sick. Trouble is in the land; confusion all around…. But I know, somehow, that only when it is dark enough, can you see the stars.”
- It Is MLK Day. Do Not Despair. This Year Especially, We Have Work To Do – Sherrilyn Ifill – Service work is important. But let us also use this day to begin the process of reckoning – of facing our own contributions to this moment as a step towards doing the national reckoning work that must come ahead of our ability to build a strong, enduring, healthy democracy.
- Resisting Monday’s Events – 18 Things to do instead – Runa Troy – I will not be supporting the nonsense in D.C. on Monday. Instead these are things I will be doing instead, as well as a few more for you to consider doing (or not doing as the case may be)
