Comic with a mouse coming out of a room to start the day and seeing what the news holds, goes back inside.

Read & Resist

For those of you in mouse world – here are a few links I read that I wanted to share. Read. Don’t Read. Skim. Share. Whatever floats your boat.

  1. I mean it’s only the HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES – one doesn’t need basic comprehension of essential programs to lead in the Year of our Lord 2025 right?  Robert F. Kennedy Jr. struggles to answer questions on Medicare and Medicaid at confirmation hearing – “Later, he talked about Medicaid’s “high premiums and high deductibles,” although the virtually-free program has neither.”
  2. PATRIOTIC EDUCATION? VOMIT. I HATE THIS TIMELINE. And honestly, I couldn’t gather the strength to read past this sentence to get to the end of the “order.”  ENDING RADICAL INDOCTRINATION IN K12 SCHOOLING – “In other instances, young men and women are made to question whether they were born in the wrong body and whether to view their parents and their reality as enemies to be blamed.”
  3. Fork in the Road? More like FUCK YOU. (No road, just fuck you.) I Just Got Trump’s “Buyout” Offer at My Job. Let Me Tell You How That’s Going. – “Welcome to government by chatbot.”
  4. Without a doubt, there is no point in such investigative nonsense. None. ZERO. Denver Schools Face Federal Inquiry Over All-Gender Restroom – ” The district noted that it is unheard of “for the Office for Civil Rights to admittedly initiate its own investigation, into a single bathroom, as a result of local media coverage rather than in response to a filed complaint requesting their involvement.”
  5. At this point, nothing makes sense. A trillion. POOF! Just make a meme coin or something and POOF! Money returns? The Tech Bros Lost One TRILLION Dollars Today – “Today, Silicon Valley learned what happens when you bet everything on greed instead of innovation. At a time like this, I can’t help but remember that time David slayed the absolute ever-loving shit out of Goliath.”
  6. Obviously – I mean why would Republicans not want all the people to vote (for them?) House Bill Would Hurt American Voters – “More than 21 million U.S. citizens of voting age don’t have proof of citizenship readily available. Less than half of American adults have a valid passport, and millions lack access to a paper copy of their birth certificate.”
  7. Read & Resist -Absolutely worth a read. What really happened inside the home of the monster of Auschwitz  – “The aftermath of the Holocaust should have meant an end of antisemitism, extremism and hate,” they say. “But 80 years later, all three are rampant and rising. ‘Never forget’ has proven not enough. Sometimes, we must interfere.”
  8. Well, there’s this. What could go wrong? CDC staff ordered to cut communications with WHO after Trump executive order – “With outbreaks of lethal Marburg virus and H5N1 bird flu spreading in animals around the world, he said, a lack of international coordination on public health is dangerous.”
  9. From Dr. Zachary Rubin. Doing the work of the now defunct FDA. “Since the FDA can’t communicate with us, then I will help the government do their job. Subscribe to my Substack to get FDA recall alerts until their communication embargo is lifted. This is a matter of public safety. “
  10. All things considered, since there’s no more reporting about these things…MAYBE this might be important? Maybe? First outbreak of novel bird flu strain reported at California poultry farm – “Highly pathogenic bird flu (HPAI) is of rising concern to epidemiologists. The US National Library of Medicine lists H5N9 as a subtype avian influenza virus.”
  11. Bye-bye birth control. Not COULD but WILL. SERIOUSLY PAY ATTENTION – get thee your prescription refill ASAP. (Expiration date June 2025.) The Supreme Court Could Gut Access to Birth Control This Year – “When the Supreme Court overturned Roe, Justice Clarence Thomas put a target on the legal right to use contraception: He said he believed the precedent in the 1965 case Griswold v. Connecticut was equally wrong and should be overturned.”
  12. More of this work. So much erasing already. ReproductiveRights.Gov Vanished, So We Brought It Back – “In the wake of its disappearance, theSkimm is publishing the content of reproductiverights.gov to ensure that the critical information and resources it outlined remain available to women and families.”
