Read & Resist – April 30. I know it’s dated. (How odd to suggest, just a few days makes something *dated* – I remember the world BEFORE BREAKING NEWS!) Anyhow, the content remains important to share.

Too true. TOO TRUE.
- penguins can’t wait to make 200 trade deals with President Stumblefuck and Chuck Schumer writes a strongly-worded letter – “…fun professional writer fact: did you know there’s a Wikipedia page called ‘list of fictional penguin names’ that I just consulted for this post? you do now. you’re welcome.”
- Americans are more scared of going broke in retirement than they are of death– I’m praying for a quick painless death, no way I’m gonna make it through “retirement” years and that was before the regime took over…
- The United States is witnessing the return of psychiatric imprisonment – Just fuck. “These proposals may differ in form, but they share a common function: expanding the state’s power to surveil, detain and “treat” marginalized people deemed disruptive or deviant.”
- LOOKING AT YOU GOVERNOR HOCHUL -“Despite past opposition from lawmakers, the governor once again plans to propose expansions to laws involving involuntary mental health treatment.”
- RFK Jr.’s HHS Orders Lab Studying Deadly Infectious Diseases to Stop Research– Ebola, why not! Measles, Polio…just fuck this timeline.
- Target gave $1M to Trump inauguration fund, a first for the company – Hmm, not just rolling back DEI…
- Elon Musk’s Doge conflicts of interest worth $2.37bn– “…warning that he may seek to use his influence to avoid legal liability.” May Seek To Use. 🤣
- Amazon launches Starlink rival – OH GOODIE because I’d rather fund Bezos than Musk? 12 years after moving out to the rural – but not that fucking rural area outside of Springville and we still don’t have internet access outside of satellite options. That said – there’s always a 27.
In the year of our Lord 2025…

I’m reading “Madness” by Antonia Hylton. It’s about a mental hospital/prison in Maryland for black patients. Of course, mental health care was terrible in that era, but this was a separate—and not equal—facility, another extension of Jim Crow used to silence black citizens. It feels like we’re heading right back to those horrors. It’s an excellent book, but l a hard read.
