Trump Calls Up the Marines. Democracy Is in Danger – “I’ll say it again: The march toward totalitarianism is happening here, and it is happening now. Trump is stealing from the playbook of every modern leader who has ever attempted an authoritarian putsch. He is creating fake emergencies and then implementing real military interventions.”

What Trump’s national emergencies could mean for American democracy – “The point of it is to get the case to the Supreme Court when he thinks he’s got a majority, to give him unlimited power,” she says. “I mostly study the fall of democracies in other places, and it’s through this expansion of unlimited executive power. I’m worried that’s the path we’re on.”

Trump Is Using the National Guard as Bait– “Trump is establishing that he is willing to use the military any way he pleases, perhaps as a proof of concept for suppressing free elections in 2026 or 2028. Trump sees the US military as his personal honor guard and his private muscle. Those are his toy soldiers, and he’s going to get a show.”

RFK Jr. Just Fired All Members of a CDC Vaccine Advisory Committee– “What’s especially concerning is that Kennedy made sweeping policy changes—such as ending the recommendation for COVID-19 vaccines in pregnant women and healthy children—without input from ACIP or the usual transparent deliberation process. This sudden decision even led to the resignation of Dr. Lakshmi Panagiotakopoulos, a senior CDC vaccine official who cited irreconcilable concerns over abandoning evidence-based practices. The American Medical Association has criticized the dismissal of ACIP as reckless and politically motivated.”
