A visit to the R.O.M? Sure why not? I’ve never been before and HWMMS hasn’t been there since a kiddo. Plus, I planned it so our hotel was only a 10 minute walk so we could leave our car parked and enjoy a leisurely stroll.

Yes, I’m a 40+ year old child. If I see a large wooden board with a cutout head, I simply MUST take a photo.

The first exhibit we wandered through was the new one about Pompeii. Pretty well done, although the room with the plaster casts of people (and a doggie) curled up dead from the volcano disturbed me greatly, I had to get out of that room fast. No bueno for this empath.

I prefer statues of fertility gods thankyouverymuch. And taking photos with the God of Wine.

The dinosaur exhibit was pretty impressive. I didn’t realize they had so many! Also a good prequel for the eventual viewing of Jurassic World happening sometime soon I suspect. HWMMS named dropped our friend Jason Poole while talking with one of the volunteers. (Can you say Dreadnoughtus?) Jason, you are a real life celebrity!

I absolutely loved the rocks and mineral exhibit, I could have spent half the day looking at them. I should have realized this while HWMMS was looking at the swords.

And I got a new pretty for my very own. Sterling Silver Roman Glass Ring. Just happened to be in my size.

For lunch we went across the street to the Museum Tavern. Holy decadent, rich lunch! Truffle Mushroom and Bacon Piegories, Elk Burger Sliders and Poutine. A delicious ending to a quick trip to Toronto.
