My God No One Can Keep Up – and of course that’s the point, right?
My mental health is precarious today, I woke up crying.
…but I will keep on keeping on.
I am not shocked, I was acutely aware of what was going to happen…which made the cries of “you’re overreacting” even harder to digest, because I knew. I did not think it would be this aggressive, this quickly. My brain/survival plan thought this timeline was more 6 months. Not 6 days.
Ok. I know. I know. Don’t fall in despair… But in this moment. I’m so scared. People are going to lose -LOSING- jobs, housing, health care, food, basic human rights. My brain does not compute. And it’s only been a week.
Feel free to share – this is obviously just one of the MANY MANY MANY atrocities thrown at us in the past week.
So In Case You Haven’t Seen It –
White House Budget Office Orders Pause in All Federal Loans and Grants – “This order is a potential five-alarm fire for nonprofit organizations and the people and communities they serve,” Diane Yentel, the chief executive of the National Council of Nonprofits, said in a statement.”
Ah, a million years ago <last Wednesday> I screenshot a message from the USDA canceling our quarterly grant partnership meeting due to <the regime> and sent it to my peeps saying I knew it would happen but not this soon. And now…pause. Yeah, sure. Pause.
I want to encourage everyone to bombard our elected officials with phone calls to representatives saying WHAT THE ACTUAL %$G& – please take a stand – do something now! Regarding all/some of the issues close to your heart.
For folks who say, “Why should I even bother calling my Democratic Senator? They’ll vote the right way…”
I need you to understand that when Dem electeds try to justify why they’re cowering in terror from Trump right now, the VERY FIRST THING THEY CITE is:
“no one’s calling my office”

Every. Day. Email, Snail Mail. Voice Mail.
In light of the last week of terror – and I mean today os only TUESDAY – I have these numbers saved in my phone. My messages almost always go to voicemail, but today Langworthy (my Congressman) had an aide answer – guess no one is calling the Republicans in support.
- Senator Chuck Schumer: 202-224-6542
- Senator Kristen Gillibrand: 202-224-4451
Hold Dems’ feet to the fire. If you live in a state with Dem reps, call them every day to thank or shame them. They need to hear from you.

I called this morning almost in tears – but look – Schumer is “doing something?”
Democrats declare ‘constitutional crisis’ on funding freeze
Remember – against the law, unconstitutional means NOTHING to a regime that doesn’t have anyone holding them accountable.
Trump: What happens if I throw this baby off of a roof?
Me: It’ll die.
Trump: [throws baby]
[THUD]
Schumer: Trump cannot throw babies off of roofs.
[THUD]
SCOTUS: Trump cannot throw babies off of roofs.
[THUD]
Me: You guys, he’s still throwing babies.
[THUD]
MAGA: He’s such a strong leader!
[THUD]— ElieNYC (@elienyc.bsky.social) January 28, 2025 at 12:11 PM
And we know SCOTUS is compromised…lawsuits will lead the way but immediate impact will be devastating when enacted.
It’s time for Jeopardy!
The answer is…
Sue him!
This is illegal!
Take this to SCOTUS!
This is unconstitutional!
<BUZZ>
What is, phrases being uttered by people not paying attention.

- Trump’s “Wildly Illegal” Spending Gambit – Congress limited presidents’ ability to redirect appropriations. This one doesn’t care.
- Clearly illegal – This isn’t about cutting the size of government. It’s about further concentrating power in Trump’s hands.
- “What happened last night is the most direct assault on the authority of Congress…in the history of the United States.”
UPDATES – SMALL BUT ESSENTIAL VICTORIES!
Judge temporarily pauses Trump’s freeze on grants, loans
This is a win – but it doesn’t change the continuing threat we face.
Medicaid portals were shut down for multiple hours today. People feared they would lose critical aid.
This wasn’t a false alarm. It was a sign of what’s to come from Trump’s presidency.

And update 1/29 – White House revokes spending freeze in the face of legal challenges
