“I will not be remembered as a woman who kept her mouth shut.”
I heard the horrific news story of the assassination before heading to the protest at Niagara Square.
Chilling. This is America.
As we approached what’s become our “regular” path from the parking ramp to the people – this time, there were lots of police vehicles in sight. My stomach turned a bit. But the moment we arrived?
PURE JOY.
It’s hard for me to hold back tears when I see so many people – so many different people, young and old, out in public, all exercising our constitutional right to protest. The dissociation day to day is real – and is necessary to keep on. Which makes these moments ESSENTIAL.
I was so fucking proud to see the American Flag everywhere – this is our flag. AMERICA.
I was so moved seeing so many people who seemed to be there on their own – out to make a difference. Like my new friend who sat beside me. I shared water. We shared a lot of conversation. My heart was full.
NO KINGS!
“The only king in American history is Martin Luther King – NOT TRUMP!”
I saw quite a few people from Springville, actually, and several from work! (Even someone from both Springville and work.) I can’t even express how much it means to me to see folks out there, entire families, standing up for what’s right.
It. Makes. A. Difference.
Also? Hugs are good.
Thank you to everyone who came to the #NoKings Rally in downtown Buffalo. Thousands descended on Niagara Square to exercise one of the most sacred rights enshrined in our Constitution. Seeing this heartened me after a tough day that should never happen in America.

Proud that our County Executive was present. Thank you Mark!
Democracy is not a spectator sport. We all have a role in protecting our democracy. Thank you to all who came and will continue the fight to protect our rights and republic. 2/2

HWMMS and I were also interviewed for the Buffalo News BECAUSE OF COURSE! I hoped I sounded coherent. I prefer being on the other side of reporting. I think I did ok.
‘We cannot afford to stand by’: Thousands protest Trump administration in Niagara Square
Jennifer Weber of Springville said her trip to Saturday’s protest with her husband, Charles, was born out of frustration with Trump “completely ignoring the rule of law.”
“We have to stand in numbers and show our support for America, and despite all the craziness in the world, seeing everybody here together in the same spirit of what America is supposed to be,” she said. “It’s very empowering. So it reminds you that you’re not alone.”
Until next time friends, #resist.
