One thing I wish the public understood about chronic illness/autoimmune fatigue? (add in a dose of perimenopause)
—–> It. Is. Relentless. Endless Fatigue.
There has not been one single day – in years – that my body has felt rested. Not one.
At minimum half the day – every day – all I want to do is be in bed. Of course this doesn’t mean sleeping, only resting horizontally with the deepest desire for slumber. IT NEVER GOES AWAY – just fluctuates between do the thing because you have no choice and YOU WILL absolutely NOT DO THE THING YOU HAVE NO CHOICE.
It’s not tired. It’s not even exhausting anymore, it just is. And if I sleep, it doesn’t matter. It just is.
Dare I say, I miss when wanting to stay in bed was just depression. Even in a long bout of the Big D, there was eventually an endpoint. A reprieve.
Alas. </end rant>
