Little Mew died on my chest this morning. Cuddled with her all night.
She had a vet appointment Friday and came home with some medicines, probiotics, prescription food etc.. we were going to monitor over the weekend. But we knew it was time.
Little Mew Mew was very, very, very sick. She has been for a while, but…well, she kept hanging in there.
Dani was Mama Weber’s kitty. When Mama passed away in 2011 we adopted her. She’s the last *connection* HWMMS has to his Mama. It’s hard…
I did a lot of talking with Mama Weber this past week, asking her to help HWMMS and if possible have Ms. Dani peacefully die at home. (Of the many, many pets we’ve had, none have died at home.) Yesterday, Dani didn’t eat or drink (which she had been doing.) Not looking like she was in pain, just—tired. Ready. I brought her in a blanket with me and cuddled with her on the round couch all night. She barely moved. Purred. And wanted to sleep on my chest. Early morning I found she got off the couch and was on the floor, only a few feet away from the couch. I picked her up, brought her in a blankie into the bedroom to sleep between us.
Sigh.
The doggos came on the bed for “family time” and she didn’t even flinch. HWMMS took the dogs outside, I put her back on my chest and within 30 minutes she was gone. Shallow breathing. A few short breaths and then…sleep.
Heartbreaking. But as HWMMS said “I can’t imagine a more peaceful better way for her to die than to be with her adopted mama….” Tears.
HWMMS said he needs to look up the burial rituals for Catholics, because Mama Weber was Catholic so Dani Cat was too. (Hence, the name, He Who Makes Me Smile.) She will be placed near her siblings Tubby, Sasha & Simba.
Rest in peace sweetest little mew. You’ve had quite the adventurous life. 9 of them well spent over the years. Thank you for letting us love you.
