(Although as of this moment of writing, Springville hasn’t had more than an inch of snow in the last 24 hours. However, we do have about 2 feet lingering from last weekend and oh yeah, since NOVEMBER 10th. That said, I’m ready. I want it. BRING IT.) WINTER IS COMING.
HWMMS and I had an early dismissal from work yesterday afternoon, along with most everyone it seems.
O. M. G. Stopped in to the East Aurora TOPS to pick up a few things. Line of carts backed up in meat department all the way through frozen foods and bakery and then to registers. I have no idea why anyone would wait in a line that long, ever. #SnowMageddon2019

The word on campus implied a snow day for Wednesday (and maybe even Thursday.) But since nothing happened in the Southtowns last night, I had my doubts. I was SUPER DUPER EXCITED to wake up at 6:15 am to find out otherwise.
And then I promptly went back to sleep with the puppies.

NOW I HAVE A WHOLE DAY OFF. (And tomorrow too, I requested the day off from one job to work in the city but both those gigs have already been canceled, so…)
TWO DAYS OFF. SO MUCH POSSIBILITY!
I mean I *COULD* do useful things on the interwebz like, well…
- BLOG? (Hello, it’s been forever…)
- WRITE (Hello, it’s been even longer forever…)
- WORK (Meh, what fun is that? Even though I have a ton of things I could do…)
- WORK (Volunteer working though, not paid. I have tons of things I could do here as well…)
Or do not quite as useful things on the interwebz like, well…
- Seek out all the Clearance Sales for things I really, really don’t need to purchase.
- Scroll endlessly through Twitter while every so often filling up my Buffer feed with future content.
- Message HWMMS who is DOWNSTAIRS about how much snow we don’t have yet and all the things we could be doing instead of sitting on the computer messaging each other.
- Start conversations on Facebook encouraging all my friends who are super loyal to work to CALL IN FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. Life is short.
SO NOW FOR THE ACTUAL LIST – Snow Day Activities I Could Be Doing But Instead I Sit On The Couch Staring At The Internet Next To a Snoring Dog, Cup of Coffee and Fireplace
FUN THINGS:
- BAKE COOKIES! I didn’t get a chance to do Christmas Cookies…and what better way to warm the kitchen?
- MAKE SOUPS! I have onions ready to slice for French Onion Soup and I’m dreaming of White Chicken Chili.
- MAKE HOMEMADE BREAD! The dough can rise all day and I can bake all day tomorrow. KEEP HOUSE WARM AND SMELLING DELICIOUS.
- Delve into pile of 2019 Seed Catalogs. SO MANY! SO SO MANY!
- Plant 100’s of cloves of garlic and 100’s of daffodil bulbs and 100’s of onion bulbs in pots to grow indoors since I bought them in November right when it started snowing in Springville and HASN’T STOPPED YET. (We had a maybe 3 day window during the week a few weeks ago with a thaw where we thought we could till, but nope. More snow.)
- Help HWMMS practice lines for Laughter on the 23rd Floor. (TICKETS ON SALE NOW FRIENDS GET THEM WHILE YOU CAN!)
- Feed tropical plants and give them new soil. (They’re growing like crazycakes in the pool room! OUT OF CONTROL! In the best way…)
- Finish watching Season Two of The Punisher (which we started during the last snowy weekend and didn’t finish. ASIDE – Jon Bernthal IS SO DAMN HOT.)
- Play excellent and topical board games such as BLIZZARD OF 77 and A FEW ACRES OF SNOW while drinking Bailey’s Hot Mocha Coffee
- Bring book to bed. Read until possible nap takes over without worrying about what time to get up.
NOT SO FUN THINGS, BUT THINGS:
- Put away the Christmas Penguins in the Dining Room (NOOOOOO!)
- Wash throw rugs and bed linens.
- Deep clean and organize pantry. (Not feeling it, but this is the last on the list from random weekend of deep cleaning done the other snowy weekend that included the bedroom, master bathroom, giant closet, jewelry box, kitchen junk drawers, pot and pan and cookie sheet cupboards and refrigerator/freezer.)
- Steam clean carpet. MWHAHAHAHHAHA. Never. I will never do this, but it does need to be done, someday. Or we (and by we I mean HWMMS of course) can just pull up the godforsaken stained beyond measure beige carpet and deal with floorboards until we put in hardwood. Also, MWHAHAHHAHAHA. While this is on the list of home improvements FIX ROOF and MASTER BATHROOM and BASEMENT BATHROOM and PAINT FOYER and FIX LIVING ROOM FIREPLACE are the top priorities.
WHAT TO DO? WHAT TO DO? (UPDATE THIS IS WHAT I DID! SUCCESS!)
