I love to read.

I’ve been recording all the books I’ve read over on Goodreads since, er, 2011! Holy macaroni where does the time go? My initial challenges back in the day set a goal of 27 books per year, because 27 of course.

In the past two years I upped it to one a week – 52. Which went smashingly in 2020 – however 2021 I FAILED BY 3 BOOKS.

Yes, instead of patting myself on the back for completing 49 books in a year – I focused on the fact that I fell short by 3 books (after being so far ahead of schedule in the beginning of the year too.) Grrrrr.

2022 – Nope. FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION. I set 1 book as my goal.

So when I see that I read 6 books in January, I have EXCEEDED MY GOAL BY 600%. And this makes me happy.

Books Read (Listened To) – January 2022

1.The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music by Dave Grohl

This might sound odd – but I’m sort of neutral about Dave Grohl – I read this book because of his interview on NPR – I was intrigued. Good book.

2. Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plantsby Robin Wall Kimmerer

Oh, I wish I loved this more than I did. It felt, long…

3. Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson

Read. Highly recommend.

4. Call Us What We Carry by Amanda Gorman

I need to revisit this collection frequently. She is an incomparable talent. READ RIGHT NOW.

5. The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner

It was ok – liked the idea of the story better than the story methinks…

6. This Is Your Mind on Plants by Michael Pollan

The first chapter on opium poppies! How did I not know! Enjoyed this read.
