Basil overload. I just went out to the herb garden to pick some basil…this is only 8 plants.

I dare say there are about 92 more out there. Give or take, I haven’t counted since several of the packets of seeds took off like crazy cakes this year. Last year…hardly any. The Thai Basil and Holy Basil did well but not the good ol standby variety. This year…basil madness.

Anyone want fresh basil? I foresee much pesto making in the near future.

Baked Basil Penne Pasta.

Half pasta half red lentil pasta. Homemade sauce with ground sausage. Two LAYERS (probably 4 cups worth!) of fresh basil, chives, parsley, oregano and thyme. Ricotta, shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese. Yum.

And now some Basil Cornbread. Because, why not?
