Today, I chose my Waffle House mug for coffee. A simple reminder of the before times. Going out to a restaurant for brunch.

IT IS NOW MAY 1ST. This is wildly unacceptable.

Why America’s coronavirus testing barely improved in April

“It has been stated thousands of times throughout the pandemic, but it remains as true as ever: More testing is needed to fight the coronavirus and ease social distancing.”

Honestly, this whole situation is exhausting.

I might be pickled in self-preservation numbness right now but my dreams are wildly speculative and vivid. Waiting for my COVID-19 test results is really fucking with my brain. I’m MORE nervous that I will be negative. Because what on earth will COVID-19 be like if what I’ve had isn’t it?  It’s only Day 2 of waiting for results! I have up to 3 more. (Does that mean Saturday and Sunday count as days? Or do I not expect to hear anything until next Wednesday?) Sigh…

What You Need to Know About the Covid-19 Antibody Test

“But there are many caveats, as a recent study found that many of the antibody tests available currently provided inaccurate results”

No preexisting conditions. 41 yes old. 2 negative tests before the positive. This virus is terrifying. Sending all good vibes to all who need them…these are the stories that haunt us all.

Nick Cordero’s Lungs Are ‘Severely Damaged’ and Have Holes in Them, but His Wife ‘Is Not Giving Up Hope’

He was first admitted to the hospital when he was “having a hard time breathing” after being diagnosed with pneumonia. At the time, Cordero had tested negative for COVID-19 twice before a third test came back positive.

Shortly after, Cordero became unconscious and was placed in a medically induced coma. He was then hooked up to a ventilator and an ECMO machine to “support his heart and his lungs,” according to Kloots.

I’m reading the news this week. But I’ve fallen into a state of moderate numbness. Numbness is self care right now, but I don’t like it. I will never understand what is happening, it’s too surreal and horrible. I don’t see the way out…how does this pandemic end?

Expert report predicts up to two more years of pandemic misery

“The idea that this is going to be done soon defies microbiology.”

Government orders 100,000 new body bags as Trump minimizes death toll

The documents show that task force members remain worried about several major risks ahead, including insufficient availability of coronavirus tests, the absence of a vaccine or proven treatments for the coronavirus, and the possibility of a “catastrophic resurgence” of COVID-19.

I guess all we can do is take it one day at a time. And wait for the after times to begin.
